DUTIES:
Red Deer College is a dynamic, comprehensive college serving students, staff and community members in Central Alberta. The Library Information Common enjoys full support of the College and community. The Library is an active participant in The Alberta Library and NEOS Library Consortium and in other provincial initiatives and projects. Partnerships with Red Deer Public Library, local school districts, and regional consortia enrich the programs and services offered by the Library Information Common.

As a learner focused, customer driven, leading edge library, our mission is to facilitate access and delivery of information, strengthen learning and support teaching for Red Deer College and the community.

You will coordinate the Library's Information Fluency program. This includes, but is not limited to, managing bookings for all information literacy classes, teaching in the program, working with subject faculty on assignment design and leading Information Fluency team meetings. Other related duties include marketing the program and managing part-time information literacy librarians. You will also provide in-person and virtual reference service. As an advocate for the library services you provide, you will collaborate with faculty, staff and community members to collect appropriate materials to support courses and programs offered at Red Deer College. Working within a collaborative team environment you will demonstrate through various tasks, committee work and projects, your ability to lead and coach others.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • An ALA-accredited MLIS or MLS Degree
  • A strong public service ethic
  • Proven ability to initiate innovative ideas and plans
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including demonstrated skills in teaching, training, and public communications
  • Knowledge of reference sources and processes as well as demonstrated ability to provide excellent reference services
  • Demonstrated understanding of the concepts, goals and methods of information literacy instruction and ability to teach in a variety of settings and formats
  • Familiarity with the trends of technology in teaching and librarianship
  • Demonstrated problem solving and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and diplomatically with a diverse population of faculty, librarians, staff and students.

Overview
Nexen's Technical Records group has an opening for a Records Analyst. This position is responsible for storing and tracking Nexen's technical records including well and area data, as well as distributing operated well data to government bodies and partners. The successful candidate will be part of the Technical Records team which provides technical records management services to Nexen's geological, geophysical and engineering personnel. This person must be able to interact effectively with all levels of staff in Nexen's business units, as well as with service companies, partners and regulatory bodies.

Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Classifying, indexing and labeling well and area records in both paper and digital format using Trango Well and Geo Manager applications;
  • Performing the timely submission of operated well data to regulatory agencies;
  • Distributing operated well data to partner companies;
  • Checking-in and checking-out technical records to business unit staff and performing regular recalls;
  • Handling user requests for information and documents;
  • Interacting with internal personnel (geoscientists and technicians) and external contacts (service and supply companies);
  • Loading documents into Livelink;
  • Moving files to adjust for changing space requirements, including to an offsite storage company;
  • Performing various other projects as assigned.
Education / Experience
  • A records management certificate or library and information technology diploma;
  • Experience indexing both paper and electronic file formats;
  • Experience working with well and area data;
  • Experience with records management software with the ability to learn new software programs;
  • Experience handling user requests;
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy;
  • A commitment to quality and customer service;
  • Great time management, organization and communication skills with the ability to multi-task;
  • Familiarity with the oil and gas industry, particularly with well and area records;

Description

Education
Completion of an ALA approved graduate degree in librarianship and information studies. Appropriate course work may be required.

Experience
2 years relevant experience managing multiple work locations is preferred.

Qualifications

Director of Library Services - St. Albert Public Library - St. Albert, AB

The St. Albert Public Library Board is seeking an experienced, senior-level professional to lead our library into the future. The Director of Library Services will provide overall leadership and direct all operations of the Library to ensure a high level of service that meets the community’s needs. The Director will take a leadership role in developing the Library’s strategic plan and will be accountable for financial management of the Library’s $3.6 million annual budget. The Director will be responsible for all human resource management within the organization, which has over 50 staff (32 FTEs), and will provide leadership to managers and their professional staff through supervision and support to achieve annual goals. Additionally, the Director will be required to build relationships and maintain partnerships with City Administration, the provincial Library Services Branch, other libraries, library organizations and community groups.

The City of St. Albert, a suburban community located at the northern boundary of the City of Edmonton, celebrates a rich history that dates back almost 150 years. Founded in 1861 by Father Albert Lacombe, St. Albert is the oldest, non-fortified community in Alberta. Library users borrowed over 850,000 books, magazines, and audio-visual materials last year alone. The majority of St. Albertans are library users and all demographics are served. INTRODUCTION:
SAIT Polytechnic is renowned for its training expertise spanning the trades through to applied degrees. Curriculum development is supported by partnerships with business and industry to ensure graduates have the skills and knowledge required in the workplace. SAIT has received $300 million for a new Trades and Technology Complex scheduled to open in 2012 which when completed will add 3,600 more spaces in the trades and technology training.

The SAIT Library will be focusing on library instructional support for students and staff at SAIT with a goal to accommodate all the new students as the campus expands.

Currently the SAIT library has an opening for a permanent, full-time librarian to provide leadership and supervision in the Technical Services area. Also, this person will join a team of three other librarians creating and delivering information literacy classes to our students and staff. A two-week instructional workshop will be provided as part of the institutional faculty orientation.

As the Coordinator of Technical Services, this person would lead a team of four library technicians. This team includes staff who license the e-resources, purchase and catalogue our material, handle our print serials and ensure the SIRSI online library catalogue and our authentication software function with existing technology.

As part of the leadership role in Technical Services, this position would work closely with the Web Development Librarian on all aspects of technology innovation. Currently, all access to our resources occurs on our library website.

This position would appeal to a librarian with strong technical knowledge, demonstrated skills in teaching and training and a desire to grow as a supervisor.

The SAIT library has an active library instruction program with a current objective to develop more online learning material and enhance librarians’ collaboration with subject instructors.

The successful candidate would need to be web savvy and enjoy the creative and technical challenges that comes with encouraging learning both onsite and online.

The ideal candidate would have the ability to foster trusting, productive relationships amongst staff, students and faculty.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Masters of Library Science.
  • At least three years of experience preferably in a post-secondary library with increasing responsibilities that involved some supervision.
  • Previous experience working in a web environment creating some user content is desired.
  • At least one year of teaching experience is required.
