- Barb Banasch, Circulation & AV Supervisor, celebrated her 40th anniversary with the Medicine Hat College library in January 2010.
- Crystal Lintott joined the Brooks campus library as Library Clerk
Library News
- Medicine Hat College ran the LibQUAL survey for the first time to survey all students, faculty and staff during February and March 2010. We are in the process of reviewing and compiling the results.
- "Library on the Go" roving reference service was first launched in November 2009 and is currently underway for the month of March.
- Text message reference service (launched in Fall 2009) continues to be popular with students in the winter semester.
- The library has acquired 3 laptops to circulate for student use. The loan period is 4 hours.
- Interlibrary Loan Post-to Web launched, which provides the option of having journal articles emailed directly to users.
- Adaptive Technology station. The library now provides access to several programs including Jaws and Kurzweil to both students and the community.
- New website and article search. A new college website will be launched soon and the library will be introducing an integrated tabbed search box to search books, audiovisuals, articles, or Google Scholar.
- The project to streamline patron information by integrating the student information system (CampusVue) and library system (III) is underway.
- Our Medicine Hat Public Library partnership has been extended to include popular DVDs for loan in addition to popular fiction from the public library’s collection.
- OCLC Interlibrary Loan and Collection Analysis products have been acquired.
- An ebrary package of e-books is being trialed by the library in March.
- Google Scholar is now linked to the library’s journal holdings to increase discovery of library databases.
- Medicine Hat One Book One Community has picked Joseph Boyden's Three-Day Road for 2010.
